The Ferrari 488 Pista is powered by the most powerful V8 engine in the Maranello marque's history and is the company's special series sports car with the highest level yet of technological transfer from racing. Technically, the Ferrari 488 Pista encompasses all of the experience built up on the world's circuits by the 488 Challenge and the 488 GTE. The new car's engine adopts numerous solutions from that of the 488 Challenge and its power output has been increased to 720 cv. 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista
The Ferrari 488 Pista also fully exploits new features developed for the 488 Challenge, not least the engine air intake layout with the intakes moved from the flanks to the rear spoiler area where they are connected directly to the plenums. The Ferrari 488 Pista's engine also benefits from all the lightweight components featured on the Challenge version, resulting in a weight reduction of 18 kg compared to the 488 GTB. Lastly, the Ferrari 488 Pista's engine sound is unique and unmistakable, as such a special version of the Ferrari V8 sports car warrants. The sporty driving feedback is further enhanced by the high-performance gear shifting, typical of a thoroughbred race car. This model also adopts the hugely successful Ferrari Variable Torque Management strategy for all gears. VEHICLE DYNAMICS
The aim of the Ferrari 488 Pista's dynamic development was to produce a car that offers blistering mechanical performance in terms of lap times and standing starts, driving pleasure and accessibility of performance to drivers of all types.
The Ferrari 488 Pista is 90 kg lighter than the 488 GTB, which brings huge advantages in terms of its agility and responsiveness. The evolution of the Ferrari 488 Pista's dynamic vehicle control systems saw the introduction of a new actuation system that flanks those featured on the 488 GTB and is integrated into the new version 6.0 of the SSC concept.
The 488 Pista also hails another first for a Ferrari road car - a lateral dynamics control system that uses Ferrari software to adjust the brake pressure at the callipers. The Ferrari 488 Pista is extremely efficient in dealing with rapid changes of direction and offers drivers a unique sense of predictability. In-depth aerodynamics research played a big part in improving the Ferrari 488 Pista's performance. The engine air intakes have been moved from the flanks - the solution adopted on the 488 GTB - to the rear spoiler as per the 488 Challenge. The spoiler is higher (+30 mm) and longer (+40 mm) compared to the spoiler on the standard production car. Aerodynamic demands guided the work of the Ferrari Design Centre team. The Ferrari 488 Pista features a two-tone livery that runs the entire length of the car, starting at the front bumper, then diving into the S-Duct and continuing all the way to the rear spoiler.

Supercar is a word that can be applied to almost any new Ferrari, but the 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista is more super than most, a sports car that straddles the boundary between road cars and its World Endurance Championship racer, the 488 GTE, as well as the cars that compete in the Ferrari Challenge series.
Compared to the 488 GTB, its close cousin, the 488 Pista will hit the streets with more power, more aerodynamic downforce, more technology, and less mass.
The 488's twin-turbo 3.9-liter V8 huffs up 710 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 568 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 rpm, compared to the same engine in the 488 GTB that's rated for 661 horsepower and 561 lb-ft. Ferrari flatly states that the Pista engine is the most powerful V8 in Ferrari history.
At 2,822 pounds without fluids (oil, etc.), the Pista is almost 200 pounds lighter than the 488 GTB.
According to Ferrari, the Pista will sprint to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds, to 124 mph in 7.6 and tops out at 211 mph. Heady numbers indeed, and the acceleration stats may even be conservative.
Aerodynamic upgrades
The Pista also represents a significant gain in terms of aerodynamic efficiency. Sophistication extends to the Pista's electronics, which are grouped under the heading of Ferrari's Side Slip Angle Control system (SSC). The sixth-gen system supervises the car's magnetic dynamic adaptable shocks, electronic limited slip differential, traction control, stability control, andnew in this generation of SSCthe Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer (FDE). Like other Ferrari introductions at the Geneva show, the 488 Pista is expected to become available to well-heeled Ferrari buyers by early fall. Ferrari 488 Pista revealed, packs same power as McLaren 720S
Following yesterday's leak, Ferrari has now released official details on the hardcore version of its 488 GTB. Pista, of course, is the Italian word for track, and a track is very much where you'll want to spend most of your time with the car.
It's not only the McLaren's power that Ferrari has matched. Thanks to nifty weight-saving mods, the 488 Pista's dry weight comes in at 2,821 pounds, down on the 3,020 pounds of the 488 GTB. Ferrari 488 Pista
In comparison, the 488 GTB needs 3.0 seconds to hit 62 mph and tops out at 205 mph.
Likely making this possible is the Pista's race car-inspired technology. According to Ferrari, the Pista's development evolved directly from the automaker's involvement in the World Endurance Championship, where it races the 488 GTE
Additionally, the rear blown spoiler is higher and longer. Subscribe

The Maranello-based company had remained tight-lipped about its hardcore new car, although more leaked images emerged yesterday revealing the vehicle's radical design and its Pista name - which means track in Italian.
The 488 Pista is the successor to the Italian marque's limited-edition 458 Speciale from 2013, with both cars taking inspiration from Ferrari's current crop of racing machines.
Ferrari will open orders for the 488 Pista following its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show, which runs from 8 to 18 March, Autocar reports.
Design
While the Pista is based on the regular 488 GTB, Ferrari has heavily reworked the mid-engined supercar's bodywork in the quest for speed.
The revised bodywork and the addition of a larger rear spoiler helps the 488 Pista generate 20% more downforce than the base car, reports Auto Express
The 488 Pista is equipped with the most powerful V8 engine in Ferrari's history, according to Auto Express.
Thanks to that power boost, and the weight reduction, the 488 Pista can go from 0-62mph in 2.8 seconds, with a top speed of 211mph, reports Motor1

Ferrari 488 Pista: Here It Is, Finally
Ferrari has finally taken the wraps off its newest track-ready supercar, the 488 Pista. Top speed is 211 mph.
The engine, as we heard from rumors last month , borrows much of its tech from Ferrari's 488 Challenge GTE car There are Inconel exhaust manifolds, titanium connecting rods, carbon fiber intake plenums, and a lightweight crankshaft and flywheel. The air intake tunnels have been moved from the side of the car to the rear spoiler area to ensure clean air flow. All of this results in a 50-horsepower increase over the standard GTB.
As for aerodynamics, Ferrari has incorporated a front S-duct and diffusers, another GTE car feature. The result is a 20-percent increase in overall downforce.
For the Pista, Ferrari has also upgraded its Side-Slip Angle Control feature. This feature uses software to adjust brake caliper pressure at the limit to further enhance the car's performance and make the car more predictable. The car will be shown next month at the 2018 Geneva Auto Show. The track-focused, hardcore flagship to the Ferrari 488 GTB has been leaked on Ferrari Chat forum, the 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista.
Top speed is 340km/h. Thanks to weight reduction, the car is 90kg easier on the scales than the 488 GTB. The car will rival the likes of Porsche 911 GT2 RS and the McLaren Senna.

Race car DNA makes the Ferrari 488 Pista a formidable track weapon
Even Ferrari has a hierarchy. That car, the Ferrari 488 Pista, makes its debut next month at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
Pista is Italian for track, which is appropriate, because that's where the 488 Pista was designed to spend most of its time. Ferrari claims to have used its racing experience to make the Pista as fast as it can be.
The transformation from 488 GTB to 488 Pista starts with the engine. The Pista uses the same 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 as the GTB, but the engine now produces 710 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque. That's the most power of any road-going Ferrari V8 ever, and an increase of 50 hp and 8 lb-ft over the GTB. The Pista engine borrows its turbochargers, exhaust system, and other parts from the 488 Challenge race car to help shed weight and increase performance.
Speaking of performance, Ferrari claims the Pista will do 0 to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds, shaving 0.2 second off the GTB's time. The Pista's claimed top speed is 211 mph, compared to 205 mph for the GTB.
That speed is due not only to the Pista's increased power, but also to its decreased weight. Ferrari says the Pista weighs 2,821 pounds dry, down from the GTB's 3,020-pound curb weight. The Ferrari 488 Pista debuts at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show March 6. is the number one ranked website for automotive news, auto shows and car photos.

Breaking News: Ferrari Reveals New 488 Pista
The street-legal track car carries the marque's most powerful V-8 to date.
In Ferrari 's bloodline of V-8-powered, road-going track missiles, the names 360 Challenge Stradale, 430 Scuderia, and 458 Speciale are etched in Maranello stone. At next month's Geneva International Motor Show, Ferrari will officially unveil a car set to eclipse every performance and handling element of this hallowed triothe 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista.
Named after the Italian word for track', the 488 Pista takes the road-going 488 GTB and cranks the performance dial way up. That includes tuning the GTB's turbocharged 3.9-liter V-8 engine to deliver a remarkable 710 hp at 8,000 rpm (50 hp more than in the GTB), making it the most-powerful Ferrari V-8 ever. Ferrari claims that the car can sprint from zero to 62 mph in just 2.85 seconds while on its way to 211 mph. The Ferrari 488 Pista powers from zero to 62 mph in 2.85 seconds and can reach a top speed of 211 mph. Photo: Courtesy Ferrari.
In addition to being more powerful, the 488 Pista is considerably lighter. Lessons learned from Ferrari's 488 Challenge and 488GTE race cars improve the Pista's aerodynamics to deliver even sharper, more stable high-speed handling. GTE-inspired front and rear diffusers, a new rear wing, and subtle underbody sculpting result in a 20 percent increase in downforce compared to the GTB.

Ferrari says that one of its main objectives with this new Pista was to make the car easier for non-pro drivers to control at the limit. A measure of all these performance, handling, and aerodynamic gains is that this new 488 Pista is reputedly faster around Ferrari's Fiorano test track than the revered LaFerrari hypercar.

Ferrari's newest special-edition track weapon, the 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista, has been officially revealed by the Italian sportscar-maker following this week's info leak Following in the tradition of cars like the 458 Speciale and F430 Scuderia, the Pista will be simply the quickest, most track-capable expression of 488-ness, with more power, less weight, and extra downforce than the standard Ferrari 488 GTB.
Pista means, simply, Track, and the moniker is entirely apt as it's where the 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista will truly thrive. The top speed is 211 mph - 6 mph better than the standard GTB.
Carbon fiber is also the material of choice for the large rear wing, which - together with the upgraded underbody air channels and rear diffuser, plus the racing-derived front S-duct and diffusers - helps the Ferrari 488 Pista generate 20 percent more downforce than the GTB.
Further aiding in handling performance, the Pista has been given an upgraded version of Ferrari's Side-Slip Angle Control, which consists of its E-Diff3, F-Trac, and magnetorheological suspension, and adds something called the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer. The tires, designed specially for the all-new Ferrari 488 Pista, are from the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 line.
The 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista will make its public debut at next month's Geneva Motor Show , with pricing yet to be announced. Comment

The 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista, which will be unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, is the successor to Ferrari's V8-engined special series - the 360 Challenge Stradale, 430 Scuderia and 458 Speciale - which have received critical acclaim for their performance and undiluted handling.
The name is, in fact, a direct homage to Ferrari's unparalleled heritage in motor sports.
The 488 Pista's extensive weight saving solutions, along with engine, vehicle dynamics and aerodynamic developments all derive from Ferrari's racing cars: the 488 GTE and the 488 Challenge. Compared to the 488 GTB, the new model weighs an impressive 90 kg less (1280 kg dry) which, when combined with the largest ever increase in engine power for a special series car (+50 cv), results in a new benchmark for Ferrari's V8 sports cars.
Torque is higher than the 488 GTB at all engine speeds, delivering a feeling of consistently smooth, powerful acceleration with even faster turbo response times despite the increase in power.
The engine sound is unique and unmistakably Ferrari, as such a special car warrants. The 488 Pista makes full use of Ferrari's motor-sports experience for maximum aerodynamic performance even on the road. The objective was to make the car's performance on the limit easier to reach and control.
This additional level of control further fine-tunes the 488 Pista's performance through, and powering out of, corners making the car's handling even more effortless, intuitive and predictable. Ferrari Design used innovative elements, such as the aerodynamic S-Duct at the front, as an opportunity to visually shorten the car's nose, creating an original floating wing effect.
The car's underlying sense of extreme purpose is also highlighted by the adoption for the first time on a Ferrari of optional new 20 carbon-fibre wheel rims, while other carbon-fibre parts include the engine cover, bumpers and rear spoiler.

The 710bhp Ferrari 488 Pista has been unleashed at the Geneva Motor Show
This is the track focussed, apex hungry Ferrari 488 Pista. The front and rear diffusers, underbody vortex generators and rear blown spoiler (which is higher and longer than on the 488 GTB) have all been derived from the marque's racing cars. The result, Ferrari claims, is a 20 per cent gain in downforce compared with the regular 488.
Engineers have also adjusted the 488 Pista's dynamics and electronic aids, including the introduction of something called the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer. Styling mods include the revised rear spoiler, the aerodynamic S-Duct at the front end and edging on the front and rear bumpers. The car sits on new tyres developed specially by Michelin, wrapped around 20-inch carbon-fibre wheel rims. Ferrari Pista: key specs

As you would expect, extensive weight saving is key to the Ferrari 488 Pista's formula. Aerodynamics are also an important part of the Pista's genetics. At the front, Ferrari have worked an S-Duct into the nose with a redesigned front diffuser channeling air to create higher levels of downforce. Overall, the Pista realises a 20% increase in downforce.
A variant of technological highlights help to cement the performance of the 488 Pista. A new system also debuts called the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer. Finally, in launch spec, the Ferrari 488 Pista gets a racing livery colour scheme not dissimilar to the 458 Speciale that came before it. Name
