Set to take the stage next week, the concept is a refined version of the QX Sport Inspiration Concept from the 2016 Beijing Motor Show, and although it's not 100 percent production-ready, it showcases the company's direction for its next midsize SUV. First let's level set; if you understand the basic operation of a four-stroke internal combustion engine, the underlying concept behind Nissan's variable compression ratio technology is easy to grasp. 2019 infiniti qx50 revealed ahead of 2017 los angeles auto show. Infiniti said that they expect best in class fuel economy of 8.7 L/100 km combined for the front-drive models and 9.0 for all-wheel drive cars. Infiniti's new VC-Turbo engine is the first to have the ability to change its compression ratio on the fly to adapt to performance and efficiency needs.

The 2019 QX50 will offer Infiniti's new variable compression turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. Due in the United Kingdom late 2018, the SUV will feature petrol engine technology that can adjust its compression ratio to meet efficiency and performance demands as required. Other manufacturers who have tinkered with the concept include Lotus, Peugeot and Saab, but this is the first time it is going into mass production, parent Nissan promising we'll see the VC-Turbo across the Nissan and Infiniti brand line-ups over the next few years.

The tech is called VC-Turbo, and the engine's compression ratio seamlessly varies from between 8:1 (for harder driving) and 14:1 (for fuel efficiency). Infiniti is going after the likes of the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5 with its latest SUV - the new QX50 , which has been revealed in full at the La Motor Show ahead of a UK launch late next year. Also featuring in the all-new SUV are the company's latest ProPilot driver-assistance technologies that enable the QX50 to accelerate, brake and steer autonomously during single-lane highway driving.

Front-wheel drive versions of the QX50 VC-T offer a 35 per cent improvement in fuel efficiency compared to the outgoing petrol V6, while all-wheel-driven variants see a 30 per cent economy gain. The single frontal image doesn't offer any surprises, looking very much like a toned-down version of the QX50 concept revealed at the Detroit motor show earlier this year (below). The 2018 Infiniti QX50 has been revealed in a single image ahead of its debut at the Los Angeles motor show next week.
