The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is getting it's first redesign since it was introduced in 1979 and we'll reportedly get our first look at the all-new G-Class in January at the Detroit Auto Show.
At the top of the range is set to be the G 63 AMG, switching from the outgoing 5.5-litre to the newer 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. In some existing models the engine produces anywhere from 375kW and up to 430kW in the case of the AMG GT R. We've had plenty of recent spy shots of the redesigned Mercedes G-Class , including views of the inside But while our spy photographer was grabbing our first look at the next GLS-Class , he caught another glimpse of the G-Wagen as well. The go-faster version of the G-Class will also be fitted with wider fenders and chunkier bumpers while the front grille will be different from standard models as well.
Powertrain: The G-wagen's core models, the G550 and the AMG G63, will be powered by two versions of the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8. But its on-road performance has been an embarrassment for some time now: With its ancient chassis and high center of gravity, the G-wagen doesn't corner much better than it did almost 40 years ago, and the incredibly powerful engines with up to 621 horsepower only underscore the deficiencies of its chassis. That nose is expected to feature a version of the Panamericana grille that's coming to all AMG models, similar to what is seen on the GLC 63.
Over the past year, spy photographers have caught the new G-Class testing numerous times, sporting a similar style as the existing model which has seen very little changes in nearly four decades. The revised front suspension will also allow Mercedes to implement a new steering system - the ancient recirculating ball system the current G-Class will be, finally, replaced by an electro-mechanical rack and pinion setup. It is a limited (200 units) version of the G500 Cabriolet, commemorating the end of the G-Class Cabriolet production, with a collapsible soft top in beige with a draught-stop, beige-coloured tonneau cover, radiator grill in chrome, 5-spoke light-alloy wheels in titanium grey, Final Edition 200” monogram on the B-pillar, sand-coloured and black designo leather seats, trim on the centre console in "designo" satin-finish light brown poplar wood, leather trim for the front doors, and an AMG performance steering wheel. It is a limited (100 units) version of G550, right-side drive for the Japanese market, with obsidian black body colour, porcelain (60 units) or classic red (40 units) "designo" leather interior, AMG over fender, exclusive titanium grey paint 18-inch 5 twin spoke aluminium wheels, "designo" leather seats with seat heater, "designo" piano lacquer wood interior trim (black), Alcantara roof liner (anthracite), leather dashboard and "designo" floor mats (black). The Fire pack includes factory fitted reinforced front winch bar and recovery points (2)rated to 50 kn, 100 amp power supply to the rear of the vehicle, fire protected fuel, electrical and brake lines and a tow bar and rear recovery points as well as enhanced rear body mounts to handle the continuous high weight, extreme operating environment and strength for the industry leading Falling Object Protection System (FOPS) that is installed on the vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz considered that 2005 would be the last year they would export the Geländewagen to the USA market; however, with an order placed by the U.S. Marine Corps for 157 Mercedes-Benz units to replace their aging and limited use Desert Patrol Vehicle with a more modern and militarized Interim Fast Attack Vehicle , the manufacturer continued to offer the vehicle in the US market.
At the top of the line model Geländewagen - 2018-2019 Mercedes-Benz AMG G 65 with a gasoline 6.0-liter the V12, generating 630 hp and 1,000 Nm, acceleration to 100 mph in 5.3 seconds. For 2018-2019 Mercedes AMG Gelendvagen version offers new exterior colors solar beam, tomato red, alien green, sunset beam and galactic beam. But major changes announced by the manufacturer in the line of off-road motor (engines became more powerful and more economical), in suspension, new shock absorbers, providing more comfort and better handling.
